Forest Hotel

Sandra and Mattias Sälleteg began with Sällegården, the farm where Mattias grew up, and built Trakt from the landscape outward. The forest suites came later: five rooms designed by Wingårdhs, lifted on slender steel stilts so roots and water can continue beneath them. What reaches the room is wind through spruce, rain on the skylight and the slow creak of timber settling into cold.

Architecture held quietly behind the trees

Architecture becomes background.

The road narrows through farmland before the trees close in. Among them, the dark timber suites seem to hover above the forest floor. Local wood, thermowood insulation and steel stilts protect the root systems; the buildings settle into the landscape until their geometry gives way to trunks, moss and shifting light.

Five rooms in the canopy.

Each forest suite turns toward the woods, with a skylight above the bed and windows that make weather part of the room.

The day unfolds without a schedule: breakfast, forest, firelight, dinner. The farmstead rooms are more earthbound — lower ceilings, meadow light in the morning and a grounded calm — while the elevated suites hold you level with branches and changing sky.

The forest sets the rhythm.

Each season brings its own kind of calm. Spring opens the forest in fresh colour; summer stretches the paths into long green evenings. Autumn narrows the palette to moss, bark and copper leaves, while winter draws attention inward — toward timber, heat and the roof window above the bed. The pace simply changes with the forest.
